Turn 3+ - Casually beat the stuffing out of bosses by spamming double vertical (double slice), energy chain, and similar low cost skills while the boss struggles to even scratch my characters in a meaningful way (especially if you've done a little bio-lab running for HP boosts into the 700+ range).įor my Asellus playthrough, even though it was NG+, I decided to not give them any gear from my previous adventures until I had naturally amassed about 15k credits, which is enough to start the infinite money gold spiral. Turn 2 - Cast Vitality on the Arcane user.

Most of my major boss fights look like this. Outfit your characters with a power suit, harmonium earring, purple eye, and pearl heart, and slap vitality on them, and you're pretty much loaded for everything at that point. I legitimately think Rune Magic might be the most underrated of the schools, based on what I've seen in guides and such. But having 3-4 characters all sporting vitality and the odd freedom rune makes this game a cakewalk. The higher mastery arcane spells are pretty amazing for things like damage, but just about everything is pretty amazing for things like damage. Honestly, I've had very little use for Arcane magic outside of Shield and Grail. I also gave the Rune Sword to Mei-ling so she can cast Victory Rune while also having access to her Arcane spells.Īlso, giving the Rune Sword to someone who does have the gift for Rune magic and has learned Stasis Rune you oddly get access to a Mirage magic spell, Cockatrice on the Rune Sword. Mei-ling and White Rose got the gift for Arcane while Emelia, Annie and Liza kept the gift for Rune. I did not buy any Arcane magic on those 3 before completing the quest. No other characters you have recruited will receive the gift once the quest is done.Īdditionally, once you complete the Arcane quest, only new characters will have the gift unless you specifically buy Arcane magic for Emelia, Annie or Liza. However, only Emelia, Annie and Liza can have the gift for Rune magic as they are the only ones who touched the Freedom rune and you cannot go back to Despair as Emelia. Once done you can do the Arcane quest like normal. You also need to be told where the other runes are by the man in Devin to get Tanzer to proc.

The priestess in Devin will still tell you where the cards are but you can't talk to Gen, can't get drunk in Yorkland, etc. Note: If you play as Emelia, you get the Freedom Rune at the end of her intro.
